ABOUT SistersInAction

SistersInAction is an SG Program that supports women, children and teens' issues through the performing arts.  To date, productions of a play about an African refugee woman, "Waking Kya," by Siobhan Fitzpatrick, have raised awareness about the issue of displaced persons throughout the world. Please note that women and children account for 80% of refugees in the world.

Through our SistersInAction performing arts program, SG produced a new play, "REHAB," written by Siobhan Fitzpatrick Austin and directed by Lola Lopez Guardone that made its debut. at the Producers' Club in Manhattan October 6-9, 2021, at 7 p.m., with an additional 2 p.m. matinee on October 9. "REHAB" raised awareness about the issue of addiction in a safe environment (all cast, crew and audience members required proof of vaccine for COVID-19).  For more information about "REHAB," including bios of the director and actors, please visit www.RehabPlay.info.

SistersInAction has also produced "Waking Kya," a one-act by Siobhan Fitzpatrick. that's the story of an African refugee woman.

"Waking Kya" has been produced at several colleges and high schools including Northwestern University, New Rochelle College, Marymount Manhattan, Sacred Heart Girls' Schools in Greenwich, Ct. and New York City. It was also produced at Symphony Space in Manhattan and the Vero Beach Theatre Guild. Ticket sales from many of these productions have benefitted the Women's Commission for Refugee Women and Children and other nonprofits. Here is a link to a review of "Waking Kya" that was produced at the Vero Beach Theatre Guild:
